Remaking Ghost
2017
Siao-long Cultural Park Gallery, Tainan / Taiwan

Walking on the streets of this small town, he collects interesting points with his camera and draws abstracted images on papers according to the photos he took. He also challenges transforming the drawings into various forms of media when staying in Soulangh, such as three-dimensional sculptures, wall paintings, and animation.

The title “Remaking Ghosts” comes from his interests in how Taiwanese people model and idolize ghosts. The existence of ghosts in this world has been unsubstantial; however, general people still manage to give them shapes and characterize them in accordance with the lore of folk and imagination. Same as the process of embodying ghosts, YUYA SUZUKI substantializes the unsubstantial elements and discovers invisible hidden images from the visible real world. He sees the reality he attempts to reveal in an artistic perspective as unsubstantial, just like ghosts.
